I use the whole insert method and date each one, so that when you tell me to use the 1/2 RP $1.00 Kraft Cheese coupon, I know exactly where to go to get it.

What I don’t understand is how in the world do you keep track of your coupons in a binder if you clip them all? If you find a deal that tells you to use a coupon from the 1/2 RP insert, how do you know where that coupon is if you have clipped it and put it in a binder? Do you date and address each single coupon once you have clipped them and put them in your binder???
    Thanks, Annette

Annette, I actually put the dates up for those who do the whole insert method. I don’t actually use them myself. I have a coupon database that I use to find the actual dates that the coupons came in, that way I don’t have to keep track on my coupons. I hope this answers any questions. I wish the whole insert method worked for me, it would save me a lot of time. But I just dont’ save as much money….

I don’t really get the binder method either. But I’m curious about it and would like to know if it will save me more money over my current (whole insert) method. So, do you really clip EVERY single coupon? Or just the ones you might possibly use? And does each of the same cpn have its own little pocket? If so, I would think that you would need hundreds of pages of those coupon holders to accommodate all of them! Or do you clip MOST coupons and file away the remainder of the insert? Perhaps you can evaluate what I do and see if switching the binder method would benefit me at all?? My method is that I clip cpns (especially food items) that I would probably use and put those in a small accordian cpn organizer that I carry in my purse. I check all of the cpn matchups for the stores that I go to before my weekly shoppping trip. I gather the ones that I need from my whole inserts and from my small organizer and put them along with my lists in a separate envelope. While in the store, I stick to my list and the cpns that I have set aside for that trip. I really only use the small accordian organizer when I buy something not on my list which is not too often. So what do you think? Thanks for the video blog!

I’ve tried clipping the coupons and using the baseball card holders. My hats off to you and those that do it! I wish I had that diligence. I know I miss deals, but…. I’ve been couponing for about two years now. I’m using the whole insert method. We use “milk crates” purchased at Staples and plain old manilla and file folders. I put the date on the file folders and then the name of the insert on each manilla folder. My only problem was when to pull out the expired ones. I found a site in a google search called Coupon Cleanout (www.CouponCleanout.com) and its been very helpful in that last respect. I select my state and it shows me what inserts are safe to pull out. Thought I’d pass it along for any other “whole insert” filers.

What are your different categories you use to separate your coupons? Thanks!
