California Wine Club Review + Giveaway

When the kids are down, the kitchen is clean, and all the toys are finally put away, relaxing with a glass of wine is a treat was definitely earned.  In my house, we reward ourselves with wine fairly often.  The California Wine Club makes this little reward easy, inexpensive and fun, and would make a GREAT Christmas present.  You probably have a relative or friend that you still need to buy a present for, and you have no idea what to get them.  If they have any interest in wine at all, they will LOVE a membership to the California Wine Club.

In New York State and many other states around the country, wine is not sold in grocery stores.  And it is such a struggle to make that extra trip to the liquor store sometimes.  Moreover, on the occasion that I am able to make it to the liquor store, the selection is so huge that I am often overwhelmed.  You see, although Lauren and I enjoy wine on a regular basis, we don’t have a huge knowledge about which regions of the world grow certain grapes better than others, or what vintage of certain wines might be better than others.  The California Wine Club really works for us… you get wine delivered right to your door, and the quality of wine is excellent.  Their selection is large, but they have different featured wineries every month (all of them top-notch), which helps make the decision mush easier.  We have never been disappointed!  And the person that you get a membership for will absolutely love it!

This month, we received a red and white from the Tulip Hill Winery.  The red was a 2009 Tulip Hills Zinfandel, and it was great.  It was very smooth and not too full bodied.  We drank this bottle with family over Thanksgiving, and everyone loved it… but part of me wished that we didn’t share it since it was so tasty.  The white we were provided was a 2009 Sauvignon Blanc.  We also shared this wine with family over Thanksgiving, and it was a perfect match for the turkey feast.
