Here is the 3rd video in my New Year New Budget Video Series – This week I talk about creative ways to cut back on your cable bill. This item seems to be the budgeted item that people have the hardest time to get rid of. I am a strong believer in your values being shown in what you spend your money on, if you are struggling financiall
Make sure you watch the other videos in the New Year, New Budget Video Series before watching this one:
- First video in my Series here – I discuss how to set a Vision for your Budget!
- Second video in this series here – I discuss how to set a budget and stick to it this year!
Here are some resources that I mentioned in this video:
- You can get your FREE $5 Amazon Video Credit here.
- You can get the Xbox 360 LIVE here for $39.99
Last week I talked about how to stick to a budget. I referenced a few accounts, both of them I currently use to set up saving or checking accounts so I cannot touch them! Remember I am a spender by nature, having money in a ‘savings’ account to me = lack of discipline, so I have to hide money in places where I cannot reach it to be successful at this
You can sign up for an Free ING account here + get $50 just for signing up!
You can sign up for a Perk Street Financial account here too! This gives you 1-2% cash back on all debit purchases, it works as a pre-paid debit card. I will do a post later today on the details of this account.

I got my cable company to drop my cable bill from 145 a month to 62.70 a month!!
Thank you for the tips!
Great work Sarah! That must feel good!
I dropped cable about a year ago. I am fortunate I live in the country and I can get nbc, cbs, fox and a few others from an antenna.
Also, I have the roku, similar to your lg player. You can use the netflix, amazon, and some others.
One of my other favorite programs/website is Hulu plus. You can watch many of your favorite shows the day after the air on tv. Love it.
I’d like to point out that there is a way to set up the streaming Netflix through the Xbox 360 as well. A friend’s room mate has theirs set up this way so I don’t know much about it but it does work! I don’t what else you can do with it, but it’s worth looking into as well.
Plus! Price Chopper has Xbox Live subscription cards on their gift card displays and they will count toward your gas points!! It’s always great to get that extra bonus for something you use anyway.
Great tip on the Xbox 360, I totally forgot to add that. I think you can also stream Netflix through your Wii.
I have not so great credit (I’m trying couponing to try to pay old debts), Do you know if I will be able to open an ING account? Also, I tried couponing for “free” items again today….so frustrating when you get to the store and the price is higher….seems to happen all the time.
